Current Opening - Vice President of Lending

Dane County Credit Union has an excellent opportunity for a strategic lending executive to join our team as the newly established VP of Lending. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the VP of Lending will provide a strategic organizational vision for lending direction of portfolio product mix, technology, service delivery and compliance.

The VP of Lending will ensure achievement of loan growth targets, plus strategic and established objective goals including risk analysis and accountability for loan portfolio quality, profitability, and return. They need to combine focused analysis, along with seeing the big picture. They will provide leadership and coaching to motivate and influence organizational culture.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader , experienced in strategic planning and loan development, researching and recommending products, establishing pricing, setting policy and procedures, managing compliance, and recommend system improvements for the lending area as well as assist in the development of the credit union’s overall goals, strategies, organization and operations plans.

This position is responsible for administration and efficient daily operations of loan servicing operations and collection efforts. This role is an active participant in the credit union’s strategic planning process and will serve as principal advisor for all matters related to mortgage and consumer lending portfolios, products, and services. The primary duties and responsibilities of this position are overseeing the consumer, mortgage, and recovery departments. The lending manager and recovery manager report directly to this position. Applicants must know about lending, marketing, operations, and collections. Financial industry experience is required; credit union experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and the ability to navigate software relating to core systems, lending analytics, member relationship, collections, project management, and mortgage origination and servicing. Candidates should be familiar with automated underwriting, have a knowledge of mortgage secondary market underwriting requirements and have expertise in consumer loans.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, analyze, and monitor consumer (direct and indirect), real estate and purchased loan portfolios and ensure that safe and sound underwriting principles are utilized.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for the success of the consumer loan portfolio, including indirect lending, direct lending, personal loans/lines of credit, and real estate loans; maximize loan portfolio growth and return through effective planning, development, and implementation of lending strategies.
  • Direct and monitor lending and recovery operations through subordinate managers and ensure the credit union meets established goals and objectives. Monitor product delivery and quality, taking action to resolve problems.
  • Develop and implement systems, risk controls, departmental policies and procedures, as well as underwriting standards and processing activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulatory requirements, credit union policies and targets.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of real estate and consumer lending practices and credit granting criteria as well as state and federal laws regulating the lending and collection functions.
  • Recommend, implement, direct and manage changes or improvements on lending and collections platforms, projects, processes and products to optimize member service, operations and integration with other systems and departments.
  • Evaluate current and future technologies and recommend enhancements that will promote greater efficiencies, improve member convenience, and exceed member expectations keeping in line with the credit union’s strategic initiatives.
  • Regularly review loan approvals and denials for soundness of decisions and loan officer development
  • Responsible for managing delinquency levels though underwriting standards and the recovery department.
  • Strategically set guidelines and procedures relating to the accurate and timely servicing of the credit union’s loan portfolio, including the production of loan documentation, proper funding and closing processes and loan servicing and oversee and review daily pipeline management for compliance.
  • Ensure overall soundness of the loan portfolio, with the ability to identify and develop long term strategies that will include initiatives such as growth strategies and market penetration objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate economic, market, competitor pricing, and production goals and make recommendations to the loan portfolio to enhance or improve lending growth, market share, loan quality, revenue, member satisfaction, profitability and loan quality based on credit union standards, risk tolerances, and practices.
  • Review member and employee feedback to develop, implement and administer lending programs and solutions to fully service member needs and to maximize lending potential for growth and profitability to the credit union while minimizing risk.
  • Participate in the credit union’s ALCO meeting as a voting member and prepare action and informational items to ALCO and the Board of Directors as necessary, attending meetings as directed.
  • Manage direct reports to maximize productivity whether in-office or remote staff. Coordinate lending goals, personnel performance expectations, and appropriate staffing levels. Contribute to an overall culture of success.
  • Serve as a senior member of credit union committees.
  • Participate in establishment of credit union budget and monitor performance to plan throughout the year.
  • Monitor loan loss provision notifying CEO of any necessary changes. Monitor and implement changes to variable interest rate credit lines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years loan officer and supervisory experience
  • Comfortable working in an energetic and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and motivate team to do the same
  • Proven success in identifying and correcting areas of conflict
  • Proven success in leading process improvements resulting in efficiencies and productivity gains
  • Possess excellent oral, written, and organizational skills

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field

Member Service Representative - Experienced - Full Time

The primary role of this position is to assist Dane County Credit Union in living out its mission, “building lifetime relationships with personalized financial solutions,” by providing outstanding service to each individual. A key component of this position is to identify the financial needs of members and prospects and recommend an appropriate credit union solution.

This position is full time. Typical schedule may be hours Monday through Friday 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and every other Saturday from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Shifts may vary depending on branch needs.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist members with financial transactions and account questions. Interview loan applicants and complete application for approval. Make outbound contacts to members and potential members to offer appropriate credit union products and services. Open and close basic accounts, and perform general maintenance of existing accounts.
  • Identify relationship-building opportunities with every contact and actively cross-sell products and services. Make follow-up phone calls to members or potential members as appropriate, offering additional ways of improving their financial situation.
  • Assist members with online banking and offers other technical assistance as needed
  • Initiate outbound call contact to offer appropriate credit union products and services using leads provided
  • Meet or exceed established sales, service, and buyout goals. Answer questions accurately about products and services. Follow up with members and potential members as necessary. Resolve problems that arise within authority.

Member Service Representative - Part Time
