Safe Deposit FAQ's
What happens if I lose my safe deposit box keys?
If any keys are lost, contact us immediately. If one key is lost, bring in the remaining key to transfer the contents from your box to another one. If both keys are lost, the box must be forced open in your presence, and at your expense.
Do you insure my safe deposit box contents?
No. Insuring your contents would be impossible because we do not know what's in your box. If insurance is a concern, ask your agent about a special policy covering items stored in a safe deposit box.
Can the IRS get into my safe deposit box?
No. The IRS cannot just walk in and make us open your box. They can, however, serve a "Notice of Levy" requiring us to freeze your box. They will then ask you to be present during the box opening.
Will you automatically deduct my box rental from my account?
Yes. All you need to do is sign an authorization, and we will deduct your annual rent.
If I become sick, disabled or leave the country for an extended period, can I appoint someone to conduct my safe deposit business?
Yes. Deputy appointments are easily accomplished. All renters and the new deputy must be present during this appointment. You may give the deputy one of your keys for access. We take no responsibility for the deputy's actions, and the deputy's access rights will be terminated in the event of your death, bankruptcy or incompetency.
