Wisconsin credit unions celebrate members and financial cooperatives!
It feels like there’s a different holiday to celebrate every single day. In October alone, we’ve already seen National Homemade Cookies Day, National Walk to School Day, as well as Bald and Free Day, come and go. So, while International Credit Union Day may appear to be just like every other special little holiday out there, it really isn’t.
In fact, it’s been held annually on the third Thursday of October since 1948. In the 1960s and ‘70s, as credit unions expanded rapidly into Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Latin America and other global regions and International Credit Union Day began to resemble the world wide celebration it is today. Each year Wisconsin credit unions celebrate the history of all credit unions. We also raise awareness of all the fantastic things that credit unions do like people pooling their money to provide each other with affordable credit in the form of quality loans and safe savings investments.
In honor of this year’s celebration — which is today! — we’re encouraging members to request the Dane County Credit Union Loyalty Pin.
To get your Loyalty Pin, simply send us an email with “I want a Loyalty Pin!” in the subject line, and we’ll mail you one. The Loyalty Pin program exists solely to show our members how much we appreciate them.
