So far in our staff interview series, you’ve heard from branch managers, an operations manager, our VP of human resources and our CEO/President. Now, meet another standout on the DCCU staff: payment processing representative, Corinne.
Though members may not recognize Corinne, many would recognize her voice as she has worked for many years in our Call Center. Now she works behind the scenes but you can be sure that she’s still a vital part of our team. From managing your debit cards and PIN numbers to catching fraudulent transactions, she does it all for our members.
With that being said, we’ll let her show you for herself. Here’s Corinne, our payment processing representative here at DCCU.
What precisely do you do? What are the duties, functions and responsibilities of your job?
The main focus of my position is maintaining the credit union debit card portfolio. I am in charge of ordering and managing members’ debit cards and PINs. I also work with Visa and our card processor to review debit card activity for fraudulent transactions.
What, for you, is a typical day like?
My typical day is spent processing members’ debit card and check order requests. I also field any staff or member calls that come in pertaining to debit card or check orders.
During the work day I review reports that come in from our security company in regards to possible fraudulent transactions on members’ cards and review any security breaches that may come in from Visa–as well as handle the debit card disputes that members complete when they have a discrepancy on their card.
What do you like most about this company?
For me, the best part about DCCU is the members. I have been with the credit union for 12 years, and prior to my current position I worked in our Contact Center and answered members’ calls. I built some great relationships with our members due to that.
Why do members choose DCCU?
They choose DCCU because we provide all the financial services that a large financial can offer, BUT we provide them with personal touches like knowing their names. We don’t treat members like they are numbers. We help them reach their financial goals.
How does your company differ from its competitors?
DCCU is known for the high level of personal service it provides its members. We try to educate our members and provide the best solution that fits their needs.
What is your favorite DCCU product or service, and why?
I couldn’t live without mobile deposit! If I am visiting a friend and they give me a check for money they owe me, I can pull out my cell phone and deposit the check right there without having to worry about forgetting to take the check into the credit union for deposit.
What’s a situation where you and/or DCCU went above and beyond to help a member improve their financial situation?
One of our Contact Center staff had a member call in to apply for a loan to pay off some credit card debt. While reviewing the member’s credit bureau, the staff member noticed that the member had an auto loan at another financial institution. After further discussion, they realized that the interest rate was higher than DCCU’s current loan rates. Along with the consolidation loan, we were able to refinance the member’s auto loan and save them over $100 a month. And, the member was able to keep the same term on the loan. The member wasn’t calling in for an auto loan refinance, but we were able to help them save money–which they can contribute towards their savings.
What jobs and experiences have led you to your present position?
In college I applied for a teller job at a local credit union and I loved it–and I have been working with credit unions ever since! At DCCU I have been a part of the Political Action Committee, and I believe in the credit union movement and what credit unions stand for. I guess you could say I caught the credit union bug!
Do you cook? What’s your favorite recipe?
I love to bake, and one of my favorite recipes is my mother-in-law’s chocolate chip cookies. She would kill me if I gave out the famous family recipe!
What sports teams do you root for?
I’m an Iowa Hawkeye fan, which doesn’t sit well in Wisconsin.
If you could start your own dream business, what would it be?
I love to go on cruises, so I would start my own cruise line!
As Corinne highlighted throughout the interview, DCCU’s focus lies in keeping our members on their best financial foot. We’re set on serving credit union members in Madison, Dane County and its surrounding communities, no matter what; whether your financial issues are big or small, please don’t hesitate to contact us or stop in at your nearest branch–we’re more than happy to sit down and chat.
