Volunteer to paint a house with DCCU.

Looking for an opportunity to help someone in our community? Please consider volunteering for Paint-a-thon 2015. Over the past 26 years, thousands of volunteers have worked together to paint more than 500 houses for low-to-moderate income residents in Dane County. Paint-a-thon recipients are area seniors, veterans, people with disabilities or health issues, and families with young children who live in Dane County and own their homes.

This year DCCU is the only Madison credit union to sponsor this event and we’re proud to help make an important impact on our community and local citizens’ lives. We are also organizing a team of volunteers and need your help. The event will take place on Saturday, August 1st from 8 am – 3 pm.

Personally, I’ve been involved with Paint-a-thon and Project Home for 10 years. I enjoy offering my time and energy to this organization because the help we provide stays local, we have immediate feedback, and I get a sense of satisfaction knowing the impact we make will be long lasting.

If you volunteer, expect it to be hot since it will be, after all, August in Wisconsin. If you know how to paint, you’ll be able to start right away. If you’re new to this, we’ll help you learn how to do a quality job. You’ll be given a Paint-a-thon t-shirt. Be sure to wear clothes and shoes that you’re ok possibly getting dirty or a little paint on. It is really not too bad, however you won’t want to wear a new pair of shoes that day.

We’ll be involved in cleaning the exterior, preparing the surfaces for painting, painting the home, cleaning up after the painting is done, and sharing lunch with the team. We’ll have pizza or subs depending on which vendor donates.

Please check out the Paint-a-thon website and let me know if you can join us. Family, friends, and partners are welcome. (Ages 16+ are preferred). Thank you for your consideration!
