A core value that is very important to DCCU, now in and on into the future, is the desire to participate in community improvement. The DCCU Cares group was formed to focus the efforts and impact of DCCU staff and members.

On May 21, 2016, volunteers from Dane County Credit Union removed garlic mustard, an invasive weed, from Heistand Woods Conservation Park. This park is adjacent to the Heistand Woods Disc Golf course on Milwaukee Street on the east side of Madison.

Volunteers joined the Madison Area Weed Warriors for this clean-up project.  Each volunteer removed an entire large garbage bag’s worth of weeds! The group encountered disc golfers who thanked them for their efforts, as they too try to prevent the invasive weed from spreading.

The DCCU CARES group will be back in action several more times this year. One of the larger events of the year, the United Way Day of Caring, is right around the corner! Dane County Credit Union participates in this amazing community event each and every year. Watch for more information coming soon. Another upcoming event is Project Home’s Paint-a-thon, sponsored by DCCU!
